Maritime Nuclear

  • The company has acquired a robust experience with both:
    • the engineering, construction and commissioning of large onshore nuclear power plants from 1976 to 1984 as leading engineer of the nuclear department in charge of the Belgian nuclear power plants
    • large floating plants projects (fishfarm, FPSO, accommodation barge ..) from concept to construction and operation
    • concept development of disruptive, zero-emission wind propelled vessels, as owner of 33% of PROPELWIND, founder and leader
  • Since 2 years, nuclear energy is gaining traction for power plants thanks to the combination of 4 factors:
    • strategic importance of energy independence
    • zero GHG emissions
    • improving public and national authorities acceptance
    • emergence of a new generation of reactors: SMRs; safer, compact, and producing less waste and with a shorter lifetime
  • Likewise, nuclear ship propulsion is gaining traction for the same reasons as above, plus:
    • the quantity of green fuel needed to decarbonize the shipping industry will never be sufficient, by far
    • nuclear reactors re-fueling period can easily be extended to 25 years ..
    • .. so no uncertainty anymore on fuel prices
  • The company planette.be b.v. is ready and willing to contribute efficiently to the development of both floating nuclear power plants (FNPPS’s) and, through its affiliate company  PROPELSEAS, s.a.s., nuclear propelled vessels.
